astro observations 3 - appearance and vibes / leo risings focus
WHY IS EVERYONE LEO RISING ???
(REMINDER : I am NOT a professional astrologer. Everything I say are my personal opinions and not facts.)
Hi guys !
First of all, I wanted to say sorry for not posting in 1 month. My 2 weeks and a half trip was not the most relaxing to say the least. But I still had fun overall!
Now, let's get down to the nitty gritty of things : Today's post will be about Leo risings, and like I said in the last post about Virgo risings (you can check it if you want here), this post will not be a description of their physical characteristics and vibes but instead be an open conversation to answer one of my biggest astrological questions : Are Leo risings the most common rising sign ? (Libra and Virgo risings will also be part of the conversation but not at the center of it, obviously)
This question has been bothering me for a while now. It feels like whenever i meet a group of people, i click on a few random profiles on astro seek , I, more often than not, encounter a bunch of Leo risings.
Even on instagram when some random people reveal their big three in their stories, or on their bios it feels like 4 times out of 10 it's a leo rising ?
I don't know if i am tripping but i feel like , after studying and learning about astrology for a little more than two years and doing, seeing and dissecting so many birth charts, i recently came to the conclusion that Leo risings might the most common rising sign.
Actually, this conversation seems to not be reserved to Leo risings only since Virgo and Libra risings appear to be also REALLY common rising signs.
-> EXEMPLE :
To give a real life exemple , last year i knew the rising signs of 20 people in my grade. To show you clearly how common some signs seem to be, i am going to make a list of each student next to their rising signs, calling each 20 of them student 1, student 2, ....
-> MY RELATIONSHIPS WITH THOSE STUDENTS :
Within those 20 students, most of them were good acquaintances and a minority were my friends. I did not have really profound relationships with most of them.
/!\ i am aware that only 20 people is FAR from being enough evidence to prove my point but i am just trying to show WHY i have been questionning the possibility of leo risings, alongside with libra and virgo, being the most common rising signs, and not prove that they are the most common because i clearly do not know and i need your help lol /!\
Student 1 : Gemini rising
Student 2 : Virgo rising
Student 3 : Scorpio rising
Student 4 : Virgo rising
Student 5 : Leo rising
Student 6 : Libra rising
Student 7 : Cancer rising
Student 8 : Capricorn rising
Student 9 : Libra rising
Student 10 : Virgo rising
Student 11 : Virgo rising
Student 12 : Cancer rising
Student 13 : Aquarius rising
Student 14 : Taurus rising
Student 15 : Leo rising
Student 16 : Leo rising
Student 17 : Aries rising
Student 18 : Leo rising
Student 19 : Sagittarius rising
Student 20 : Cancer rising
*A few of them , i am not sure if they're 100% accurate since they gave me an approximative time of birth.
-> RESULTS :
You can CLEARLY see that Leo, Virgo and Libra risings are the most common. (cancer risings seem also really common here)
Out of the 20 students , 10 are Leo, Virgo or Libra risings. They make up almost a majority of the risings, which is crazy regarding the fact that they are 12 possible rising signs, and only 3 out of the 12 make up half of that list.
The funny coincidence here is that , in the zodiac wheel, they are all one after another :
Leo-> Virgo -> Libra
Now , I remember seeing a while ago a youtube short explaining that the rarest rising signs are allegedly Aries , Pisces and Aquarius risings. I'll put the link if you want to watch it but to summerize she says that basically : Every single day for two hours (approx.), each one zodiac sign constellation rises on the Eastern Horizon. If a baby is born during the 2 hour chunk when Gemini is rising, that baby will have a gemini rising. The particularity that makes Aries, Pisces and Aquarius so rare is that those constellations only rise for one hour (approx.) each day. Since most of the signs rise for a longer amont of time (2 hours), you have a higher chance of having those signs on your ascendant and logically, a lower chance of having Aquarius, Pisces and Aries on your ascendant.
youtube
At the beginning, I said that I studied astrology for a little more than two years HOWEVER I haven't really studied (if not at all) the more "technical side of astrology", what the discipline and knowledge requires to be practiced correctly and accurately and to make the best interpretations possible.
That is one of the reasons why I am coming here : to seek help from professional astrologers who can not only clarify if what the girl in the youtube shorts is saying is true or not and why it is true, but also to tell me if my theory makes any sense, if there's some truth in it - > basically, to give us answers.
Now, even if you're not a certified astrologer you are still obviously welcomed to partake in this conversation ! I will be more than happy to answer to all of you guys and to get your intake on this conversation <33
Let's use our brains together and come up collectively with an answer !
Remember guys : STAY BLESSED 💅🏼✨ ! (period ha! 👅💋)

hey!!!
so a lot has gone down, i did allergy testing yesterday morning which wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be, it turns out that now i’m only allergic to dust mites. which isn't great cause they're EVERYWHERE. but oh well, i’m going to start shots again next week (i did for five years as a child) so hopefully they will bother me less in the future.
after the testing i needed a break so i skipped class (gasp!) and went to my friend’s to finish the baby blanket i was making for her to give to her friend. this was kind of necessary since i went to office hours later and she was leaving town around the time they ended. all i had left to do was stitch down the tail ends, which is easy enough but still not a part i relish because it requires so much more intention than just the regular knit knit knit.
after office hours i went home and took a huge nap, showered, watched tv for a little bit and then went to bed by like 11:30 which is good progress.
today, i did part of my usual morning routine and then spent the rest of the time getting into yet another debate with my mom about the electoral college. (sigh. mathematically, i just don’t get it. must be a NT thing.) then i went to class, studied at a coffee shop, went back home, had a break and a snack, and studied some more. and naturally in the middle of my evening studying, i took another break to get a snowball.
things i’ve gotten done:
✅ objectives notes and quizlets for parts 8, 9, 10, and 11
✅ finished the baby blanket (she came out so nicely considering i hadn't knit anything in almost two years!!)
✅ problem set 4 in office hours
✅ personal Bible study - this morning i finished mark 6 and read mark 7! i felt so much better reading more than my self-prescribed one chapter a day, like i was actually prioritising God’s word rather than viewing it as a chore! also felt great doing it in the morning as i strive rather than waking up late, not having enough time, and leaving it for the afternoon or evening or worse forgetting entirely!!
tomorrow morning i will be cramming the most important terms/examples. oh well. i will be reading all the terms out loud, starring the important terms/examples that i need to learn, and going back and studying those more. a lot of the material is basic stuff that i already know from intro bio courses and just need a little refresher, it's not all internalizing entirely new concepts, so i have faith that it will go alright!
☙ song(s) on loop: “figure me out” by the summer set. this was on repeat during my study session at the coffee shop after class today :)) ALSO! "burning up" by marianas trench was on repeat during my study session at home in the evening
☙ hours studied today: 4hrs 30m (this is a new thing i’m adding to my posts! it will be from an app i have had for over three years called forest. you set timers to focus and at the end, you have a digital tree. they also plant real trees to benefit the environment!! i haven't been using it consistently lately but would like to get back into it because it is sooooo satisfying and helpful to see the graphs of my study time and my little digital arboretum)
i was going to attach pictures of various things mentioned today but eh. i'm too sleepy. maybe next time
after my exam tomorrow i get to study with my best friend (what will i work on lol) and then make/work on/hunt down lots of birthday presents for three different people. yippee!
xx

hii can i know your daily routine from morning to night. i also want to know how you manage writing and how you manage your tumblr. i want to know what major you study. i want to know because i am new to tumblr and managing time is hard for me. if you feel this ask uncomfy, you can ignore me.
afraid you asked the wrong person for this cuz my daily ( mostly evening & night ) routine is VERY different from each other throughout the whole week because of my tuition classes/study schedule TT but no probs, i'll try to give u my routine in the best way possible ^^
𖹭 MY DAILY ROUTINE
MORNING & AFTERNOON (≧∇≦)
6:00 — 6:30 am : wake up time boooo. although this time varies during exam season or when i pull an all nighter/ sleep late cuz i was watching a series, this is the usual time i wake up, or at least try to every single day ><
6:30 — 7:30 am : brushing teeth/skincare etc + morning workout & pilates. i usually try to do the first part is lesser time so that i have more time to workout & stretch ^^
7:30 — 8:05 am : break/creativity period. here i give myself a 35 minute break for relaxation or checking social media / practicing my italian lessons ( im vv beginner >< ) or draw or write short essays/poems or plan out my day which is the MAIN task i usually do
8:05 — 9:05 am ( 30 min gap 4 chai + breakfast break ) , 9:35 — 10:35 am, 10:35 — 11:45 am, 12:05 — 1:05 pm : with breaks, these timing are for my studying, and i follow my study routine for the day >< [ WHEN I DON'T ATTEND SCHOOL ]
1:05 — 3:15 pm : shower + lunch >< [ WHEN I DON'T ATTEND SCHOOL, i return at 3pm from skl ]
EVENING (≧∇≦)
3:15 — 5:00 pm : relaxing & writing for blr/watching shows ( or i sleep TT ) >< ONLY IF i don't have tuitions, when i do, i head out for them around 4:30 — 5:00 pm according to the timing of my classes.
(after break 4 evening snacks/chai) 5:30 — 6:30 pm, 6:30 — 8:30 pm, 9:00 — 10:00 pm, with breaks again, i follow my study schedule ><
NIGHTTIME (≧∇≦)
10:00 — 10:30 pm : have dinner
10:30 — 11:00 pm : ghost around my home / free time TT
within 11:30ishpm : finish skincare, brushing, and take my meds
after that o clock : 😴 but if i pull an all nighter or watch a series with my mum that's another story lol
𖹭 MY MAJOR/STREAM
well i'm still in school so i don't have any major, but we indian students are given to choose between 3 streams — science, commerce & humanities. as for me i am a science student ^^ i have bio, chem, phy, maths, psych, eng !!!
𖹭 TIME MANAGEMENT
again, a hard question to the wrong person cuz my schedule is not constant TT but as u can see there are breaks between my study sessions! i tend to manage my time and do stuff between those breaks, and when life gets too hectic, i take hour long breaks and write for blr! keep in mind, that you NEED TO BALANCE life & social media. find the right time for each of your important sectors like studies, work, hobbies & schedule them out equally! that also doesn't mean you have to follow them blindly, make sure to take breaks, do things that you enjoy & love life & most importantly, your precious self ^^ MWAH. hope i helped ya <333

Answer the questions and tag five fanfiction authors you know!
tagged by the wonderful wonderful @altschmerzes
1. How many fandoms have you written in?
Written in about 15 but I've only published in two. According to ao3 it's five but that's because of the umbrella fandom of DC comics.
2. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?
Since I was around 6 and I'm now 20 so about,,, 14 years
3. Do you read or write more fanfiction?
I read way more than I write, I read a bare minimum of 3 fics a day and I go through really long periods of not writing anything so I for sure read more than I write
4. What is one way you've improved as a writer?
since I started publishing my fics I've gotten a lot better at actually finishing them, but my grammar and tense has also improved A Lot just from practicing even if it's still not the best out there.
5. What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
I mean it's not that weird but I get very hyperfixated on small details so I did a lot of researching into the different degrees offered at Yale and Harvard in order to decide what degrees I think would be offered at a fictional Ivy League university when I was writing character bios a little while ago.
Also for To All The Better Places I spent a truly inane amount of time researching grassroots U12 girls football teams for a side character so I could name one in the right area that would suit her needs the best.
6. What's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
long ones for sure. I love getting long comments especially on my longer fics where people like,, point out things they liked or quote my work as me. Also love those like,, live slug reaction comments you get sometimes where people go paragraph by paragraph telling you their thoughts as they have them in one long comment,
7. What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?
I have a lot of ambiguous gender feelings a lot of the time, and I also grew up watching a lot of "boy" oriented media that would only have like,, one or two girl characters at best so from a young age I was fascinated with reading like,, canon divergent "always-a-girl" trope fics and I have written a couple of them myself which I think is a bit of an unpopular trope in wider fandom.
8. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?
angst and whump because I really struggle describing physical sensation and angst usually just ends up with me making myself sad and/or sick in the process of writing it if I don't have a happy ending planned and ready to go
9. What is the easiest type?
found family stories are my bread and butter, slice of life, friends just being friends, those kinds of stories
10. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?
I usually write at home at my desk, since I study online I've got a pretty perfect set up to spend long hours there. If I'm not at home I'm at the library. I use Notion, because it's free, I have personal beef with Word and google docs sucks. It's not technically a writing platform in the sense I use it in but it works fine as one, it also makes it super easy to organise my files and extra notes of fics, on top of my editing and the drafts.
11. What is something you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?
I actually recently overcame my big too nervous to write fic. I am,, an asexual virgin but I also really enjoy reading smut. I've wanted to write some for ages, but on account of not knowing how sex works because I've never had it and also my inability to describe physical sensations I've been weary to give it a go in case it's terrible but I finally wrote some not long ago and published it over on ao3
12. What made you choose your username?
Well Asteria is just my name, and then Argo is a combined DC/Greek Mythology references. Argo comes from the Argonauts of The Golden Fleece myth, but it's also the name of the original supergirls home.
I do not know whose already been tagged or whose already done it so I'm just going to go for it and hope for the best @jamtartandsunshine @kvetchinglyneurotic @jamiesfootball @antitheticaally @its-not-easy-being-green-things

Movies I watched this Week # 149 (Year 3/Week 45):
Between 'Mean Streets' and 'Alice doesn't live here anymore', Martin Scorsese made the documentary ItalianAmerican, which is basically a home movie. It features his parents bicker and talk at their apartment, remembering the old days of their families.
🍿
2 with teenager Scarlett Johansson:
🍿 Re-watch: Sofia Coppola's Lost in translation, while waiting for her latest 'Priscilla'. "Sleepless in Shinjuko". Sad and vulnerable 17-year-old Scarlett Johansson, a 'stranger in a strange land' is having a 'Brief Encounter' moment, with less-asshole-than-usual Bill Murray. (Photos Above).
Another melancholic exploration of a lonely young woman, who finds herself captured in a privileged gilded cage. An exceptional, subtle masterpiece. 10/10.
🍿 The horse whisperer starred 14-year-old Johansson as a horse-lover who becomes emotionally stunted after a riding accident that caused her to lose part of her leg (all in the first 10 minutes of the film). It's a sloooow, traditional 3-hour-long story about healing, told mostly in beautifully-cinematic Montana. But it worked for me, in spite of the well-shot sentimentality. 7/10.
🍿
My first 2 by German auteur Christian Petzold, both with Paula Beer:
🍿 Afire - a tremendous, complex drama about a vain, immature writer on a working vacation. The little summer cottage close to the Baltic sea, is soon encroached by a forest fire, as does his self-centered world view of himself and his art. It starts at one emotional point, and skillfully moves to a completely different, tense level. 9/10.
🍿 Petzold wanted to make a series of films about the 4 elements. Undine refers to the myth of 'water nymphs', so rivers, industrial diving, large aquariums, and drowning in a pool are all part of the story. It's a lovely, simple romance, which eventually turns into a dark fantasy. My 5th film with Franz Rogowski. 4/10.
🍿
3 More of Claude Chabrol’s Hitchcockian thrillers:
🍿 “… You like meat?…”
Le Boucher, a low-key, atmospheric thriller about a single woman who befriends a village butcher, who's also a serial killer. Fantastic snapshot of the people at 'the country' (Dordogne) at this time. 9/10.
🍿 The ceremony (La Cérémonie) is a similar dark story, set in a solid bourgeoisie family. Isabelle Huppert & Sandrine Bonnaire becomes friends and eventually decide kill them all. Like 'Stanley & Iris' from last week, the protagonist is illiterate. 6/10.
🍿 The Unfaithful Wife, another terrific, low-key, civilized study of a French bourgeois household. A loving husband discovers that his loving wife is having an affair, and ends up killing her lover. I liked it so much, and thought it would be a very good candidate for a modern remake. Then I remembered Adrian Lyne's 'Unfaithful' with the luminous Diane Lane in the Stéphane Audran role. Maybe I should watch it again! 8/10.
I discovered Chabrol late, and have only seen about 10% of his 74 movies. Now I have to see them all!
🍿
Milf, another film with Virginie Ledoyen, a soft-core sex comedy. Three older women looking to hook up with boys 20 years younger. A similar concept to the Naomi Watts film 'Adoration'. I only watched it because it is directed by a woman and had 13 on the Tomato score. Better than Zalman King.
🍿
Wow! After 4 months of anticipation, the venerable bio-pic Oppenheimer finally hit my free streamers. I watched all 3 hours of it but left completely underwhelmed. This is the seventh of Christopher Nolen's praised big-budget epic films that I saw, and so far none of them had floated my boat. Okay, so I'm not a big blockbusters fan.
It's not very hip to rail against McCarthyism in 2023. Twenty-twenty revisionist vision, mambo-jumbo pseudoscience, overwrought endless, loud soundtrack, and basically the usual biography of a "Great man", which is always a boring subject for a movie. 4/10.
🍿
3 by regular Fincher screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker:
🍿 On the other hand, David Fincher’s new thriller The killer was a thrill ride that was a joy to watch. A cold blooded professional assassin, laconic and super-human, flies around the world ruthlessly killing people. Mesmerizing (but predictable) suspense with an effective Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross score. I could do without the inner monologue that replaced conversations in the story. Also, a great comic book knock-out fight after an hour and a half of deliberate, slow go. 7/10.
🍿 In 2001, BMW produced 8 short films by famous directors as "Branded Content", i.e. advertisements. Called 'The hire' they all featured Clive Owen driving Beamers around the world. AKW wrote two of them:
The Follow was directed by Wong Kar-wai, and was about an aborted diamond heist.
Ambush was directed by John Frankenheimer, and was about a woman being followed by her husband.
The other shorts were by John Woo, Tony Scott, Ang Lee, etc.
🍿
5 more Danish films, 3 with Henning Moritzen (The patriarch from ‘Celebration’) and 2 with Mads Mikkelsen:
🍿 Tænk på et tal (Think of a number), a 1969 old-fashion, enjoyable Danish 'Krimi' with an enduring theme song. A meek bank teller finds a discarded note from a bank robber, and gets involved in a lethal game.
This story was later remade into the Elliott Gould caper 'The silent partner'. I love such slow and delightful dramas, and I love Bibi Andersson.
it’s funny how movies that used to be throwaway entertainment products 60 years ago, gain completely different meaning today. I should start exploring the many Danish Noir from the 40's and 50's. 7/10.
🍿 50 years later, In the Oscar-nominated short The pig, Moritzen is old and fat, and is being hospitalised for some tests. There he lays and finds comfort in a simple picture of a pig jumping over a fence. Delightful!
🍿 On the other hand, Now is another Danish short (from 2003) starring Mads Mikkelsen. But it's an artsy-fartsy, humor-less, word-less "Art film", shot in black & white, with a constant baby crying. Like 'An Andalusian Dog' but without the charm and the magic… 1/10.
🍿 I was surprised to realize just now that my favorite Danish screenwriter Anders Thomas Jensen directed only 5 features and 3 shorts. (but he wrote 59 scripts!). Wolfgang is an early short of his, and not his best. Now I've seen all the movies that he directed.
I can't wait for his upcoming 'Monster of Florence' with Antonio Banderas and 'Back to reality'. Yeah!
🍿 So I took in one more viewing of his sentimental After the wedding, maybe for the 10th time. So full of emotional twists, old-fashioned melodrama, Sigur Rós score and peak Sidse Babett Knudsen.
🍿
Budapest Noir, a Hungarian murder mystery, set up in anti-semitic 1936. A hard boiled crime reporter investigates a murder of a beautiful prostitute, like a Jake Gittes named Zsigmond. Very strong 'Chinatown' vibes, including a smokey jazz score that tries to recreate its haunting atmosphere, and even the final line of dialogue "This is Budapest". 5/10.
[This is the 115th woman-directed film I've seen so far this year!].
🍿
Dumb money, the first enjoyable Reddit movie, about the 2021 GameStop short squeeze. Compelling Class War rhetoric with Seth Rogen as the billionaire 'heavy'. Up-to-the-minute updated drama of the 1% Vs. the unwashed masses. I think it will endure as another worthy addition to the sub-genre of 'highly entertaining explanation to boring real-life financial story', just like 'The big short' and 'Margin call'.
However, it used an Artificial Intelligent editing model that color-corrected the whole movie into a weird, fake, washed up look. 8/10.
🍿
First watch: Kurosawa's bleak Drunken Angel, an early post-war Yakuza film, and the first of the 16 collaborations between him and Toshiro Mifume. An alcoholic doctor befriends a young hoodlum suffering from tuberculosis. Located around an open sewer in a seedy neighborhood, still suffering under the American occupation.
🍿
Ikarie XB 1 (Or 'Voyage to the End of the Universe' as it was called in American), an influential and ambitious 1963 Czechoslovakian science-fiction saga, based on a Stanisław Lem novel. "Futuristic" space decor and story, very much in the Star Trek style. Cultish 1960's popcorn philosophy, but nonsensical and not a serious world building. Not for me - 1/10.
🍿
Thank Dog that the third season of Tim Robinson’s 'I think you should leave' was so short. The first season was outrageously different. The second season was a 'repeat on a theme'. This one was just cringey irrelevant. Absurd, awkward, confusing situations, exploding rage at small mistakes. No!
🍿
My first (and last) stand-up by comedian Nate Bergatze, The greatest average American. Average stories of 'relatable' everyday nitty gritty were hardly worth a chuckle.
🍿
(My complete movie list is here)

Is it too late too ask for 10 Facts? I'd like some facts about Selena :3
Considering my adhd ass wandered away for a few years, no its not to late
10 facts about my Jedi Sage Consular Selena
1.) She does not follow the cannon consular storyline, she is a Jedi archeologist, and frequently vists remote planets to study obscure artifacts.
2.) She was adopted into the Jedi Order officially at 3 hours old ( and unofficially adopted at that time by her foster parents Master Yuon and Qyzen Fess.)
3.) She is not much of a duelist, instead focusing on earth bending in a pinch, she's more likely to use her lightsaber as a flashlight or intimidation against a hostile for.
4.) She does have the gift of forsight and will occasionally have visions. She passed her gift onto her son Sass and he passed it down his line.
5.) She was raised on a remote outpost on Illum, and spent her childhood exploring the crystal caves.
6.) Unknown to her most of her life, she is the heiress to a massive sith estate. ( her biological father and sister had infighting and alot of murder happened) after her bio fathers death, Sass does press her claim and since Acina can't find any other blood heirs ( and wants to stay on the new Emperor's good side)
Empress Acina does hand over all the bank accounts and holdings to Selana.
7.) Selena promptly donated most of her inheritance to charity to settle refugees on Odessan or gave the more deadly stuff to the Alliance.
8.) She technically is a Queen. At first no one knew how to address the mother of an Emperor without an official title and no military background.
So Sass technically " gifted" his mother a planet whose royal lines had died out during the war. And thus she became thier queen.
Lana helped set up a concuil to run everything ( and be friendly towards the Alliance) so Selena will visit a few times a year instead of living there.
9.) She does have an eye for fashion, and opens the first fabric and dressing making shop on Odessan.
10.) She is responsible for setting up the first proper Jedi temple on Odessan in the growing village outside the base.
Her daughter is in law Lana quietly had the first Sith taining grounds built on Odessan afterwards.

Thanks so much for the interest!

July 28-August 3, 2013
Sunday, July 28
Due to the harassment incident, I wrote up a resignation letter. The owner called me about what happened, and I was about to send my letter, but she said she would reprimand the man, so I didn't need to quit. My parents were worried about me coming home very late. We had a serious talk about it. I told them I really wanted to work there and promised to find new employment if something else happened. They reluctantly agreed.
Monday, July 29
We have exams this week, so I paid my tuition fees. We had a long quiz and marathon lectures. As promised, Mansoor and I stayed in a classroom and watched Amelie. It was just the two of us in a corner classroom. We avoided touching each other to not attract attention. There was a bed scene, and we just reacted and watched. I tried to be mature about it, but he looked my way. Mansoor is already 20, and we've talked about these things, including Fifty Shades of Grey and other sexual topics when he was courting me.
I went home at 7 PM and joined the dinner. We talked about work again, and I said my boss said it was okay.
At night, Roxanne borrowed my laptop, and I lent it to her since it's exam season. I reviewed but wasn't in the mood.
I then looked for toys online and found a local one from China for ₱500. I bought it immediately.
I started touching myself and imagined Mansoor in intimate ways. I wondered if it would be easier and better if we really did it, but I decided we weren't ready yet.
Tuesday, July 30
I attended class and had lectures. I went home early to study and told Mansoor I'd be busy studying.
He understood. Also, the shirts are ready to be claimed.
I reviewed all night.
Wednesday, July 31
I took the PE4 exams, then stayed in the library to study for Chemistry. I passed by Sir Apollo, and we exchanged glances. It's been a long time since I saw him. I quickly passed and went to the higher floor where Justine was. We were both shocked she wasn't with some friends.
Hollmae followed too. I just focused on studying. Then Chemistry came in.
Thursday, August 1
Exams in Developmental Psych. Mansoor had the exam with me. Then, I had to study hard for Bio Psych because it's really difficult.
I went to work and continued studying. My boss asked if I was okay, and I said yes.
Friday, August 2
Exams for Personality Psychology. Mansoor did not take the exam. I finished for the whole day and spent lunch with him. He said he badly wanted to hold my hand. I told him we could do it, but maybe at night. I went home and then back to work. We don't have work on Saturday and Sunday.
I received my remuneration, which was ₱3,785.
Saturday, August 3
Finally had exams for Bio Psych.
I was free the whole day. I told Mansoor that we could go out tonight, maybe watch a movie like The Conjuring. He agreed.
I went home and did some sketches, vlog editing, and blogging. Then he and I met at 6 PM at the mall, and he had already bought tickets. I tried to pay, but he insisted, so I offered to buy snacks, which he agreed to. We held hands for a while, knowing no one would probably see us. We watched The Conjuring together, still holding hands. My heart was jumping, not because of the scare jumps but because of this. My hands were sweaty, and I kept squeezing his hand. The movie finished in two hours, and we went out around 8, close to 9. It was just in time before they close down so I bought a bow hair clip for my hair.
Walking down, I wanted to get some chai latte, so we went down, grabbed them individually, and paid individually. I went home at 11 PM.

The Ultimate Guide to Freelancing Success
Freelancing offers unparalleled opportunities for autonomy, flexibility, and financial independence. However, succeeding in the competitive freelance landscape requires a strategic approach and commitment to excellence. Before we talk about success it's essential to explore Freelancing gigs.
Here’s your comprehensive guide to achieving freelancing success:
1. Define Your Goals and Niche
Begin by clarifying your professional goals and identifying a niche that aligns with your skills, interests, and market demand. Specializing in a specific area—whether it's content writing, graphic design, web development, or consulting—helps you establish expertise and stand out in a crowded marketplace.
2. Create a Professional Brand
Your brand is your identity in the freelancing world. Develop a professional brand that reflects your expertise and values. This includes designing a logo, creating a portfolio website showcasing your best work, and crafting a compelling bio or profile that highlights your unique selling points and experience.
3. Build a Strong Online Presence
An online presence is crucial for attracting clients and establishing credibility. Optimize your LinkedIn profile and other social media accounts to reflect your expertise and connect with potential clients. Regularly update your portfolio and engage with industry-relevant content to stay visible in your niche.
4. Develop Your Skill Set
Continuous learning is essential for staying competitive. Invest in courses, workshops, and certifications to enhance your skills and stay updated on industry trends. Improving your expertise not only boosts confidence but also enables you to offer high-quality services that command premium rates.
5. Set Clear Pricing and Policies
Determine your pricing structure based on market rates, your experience level, and the value you provide. Clearly outline your pricing, payment terms, and project scope in client contracts or proposals to avoid misunderstandings. Communicate transparently about revisions, deadlines, and additional fees upfront.
6. Market Your Services Effectively
Marketing is key to attracting clients and growing your freelance business. Develop a marketing strategy that includes a mix of tactics such as networking, content marketing (blogging, guest posting), social media marketing, and SEO. Showcase your expertise through case studies, client testimonials, and thought leadership content.
7. Nurture Client Relationships
Building strong relationships with clients is crucial for long-term success. Communicate proactively, listen to their needs, and deliver exceptional results consistently. Foster trust and loyalty by exceeding expectations and providing value beyond the scope of your services. Happy clients are more likely to recommend you and provide repeat business.
8. Manage Your Finances Wisely
Freelancers must manage income variability and expenses effectively. Set aside savings for taxes, invest in professional tools and software, and track your earnings and expenses meticulously. Consider consulting with a financial advisor or using accounting software to maintain financial stability and plan for future growth.
9. Prioritize Work-Life Balance
Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential for sustainable freelancing success. Set boundaries around your working hours, take breaks, and prioritize self-care. Balancing work commitments with personal interests and relationships helps prevent burnout and enhances overall productivity and happiness.
10. Embrace Continuous Improvement
Freelancing is a dynamic field, so embrace a mindset of continuous improvement. Seek feedback from clients, stay adaptable to market changes, and evolve your skills and services based on industry trends. Remain proactive in learning, networking, and refining your business strategies to stay ahead in the competitive freelance market.
Conclusion
Achieving freelancing success requires dedication, strategic planning, and a commitment to delivering exceptional value to clients. By defining your niche, building a strong brand, continuously improving your skills, and nurturing client relationships, you can build a thriving freelance career that offers both professional fulfillment and financial rewards. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and remember that consistency, professionalism, and innovation are the cornerstones of long-term freelancing success.

anything else?: nope, thanks for taking a look!
character information
name: Asha Nadar
faceclaim: Simone Ashley
gender & pronouns: She/her
age: 29
birthday: 6/17/1995
place of birth: Kismet Harbor, Oregon
occupation: Lead Enologist at cunnamore vineyards (if possible, i’d love for her family to own it! If not, i have a way to spin it potentially where her bio below still makes sense and i’d be happy to share that with you if you’d like!)
neighborhood: Cresthill Medows
time since arriving in kismet harbor: since birth
filling a wanted connection?: n/a
biography: hope. a dangerous game, some might say. unless you are anan and nikah nadar, of course–then hope is what has sustained your family for generations. it was with hope that anan’s parents–dipesh and gaayathri– left india for a better life. it was the hope that dipesh’s connection with the earth–his love for the soil and deep respect for bhumi, the goddess of the earth–would allow their family to have a better life, an upwardly mobile life. india, for all the love and hope they had for their home, was not a place where hope held deep roots. america was much more fertile ground. fertile, but not tilled. dipesh would spend hours working the field, sewing seeds, planting hopes, watering dreams. while he loved the earth and all that it provided, dipesh was no expert at this new crop. india was not so hospitable to this new vegetation. but dipesh could not lose hope: one day, his grapes would grow, and so too would their new life. there was something to be said about hope, at least back then. it seemed like hope always came through in those days. that’s surely what it looked like to asha nadar, the granddaughter of dipesh and gaaythri, daughter of anan and nikah. It was a thought asha had frequently, as she looked across the cunnamore vineyard and to see what her grandparents had started. asha though, felt fatigued by hope. That was her name after all–and it was a constant reminder of the weight that hopes bring.
As the second born, the youngest and only daughter–certain hopes had been laid upon her shoulders as well. From a young age, she had been a whiz at science–and math. She had found a unique knack for understanding the practical applications of formulas and found chemistry to be of interest early on in her school days. Her parents, seeing their dreams of a family dynasty in the wine business, pushed Asha toward a career in Enology–he study of wines. She paired that with a brewing minor and voila–a perfect addition to the wine-making culture dipesh has put his hopes on generations ago. Asha always wondered if her brother, Chavirk, ever felt pushed in a certain direction–but she assumed not. Chavirk had never been pushed anywhere he didn’t already want to go. He relished being the next in line to run the family business. He loved how set his life was–and how it simply required him to follow the steps.
Asha felt crushed under those same steps–a penchant for math had changed her whole life. it had hardly let her explore anything else. Asha had always felt trapped by the versions of her she could have been: a writer, a poet, a schoolteacher, a dance instructor. she missed every chance to find herself, to find who asha nadar really was. But there was no disappointing her parents, that was for certain. She’d nearly done that once–a relationship that she thought would last forever, instead almost ruining her to pieces. After that folly, her parents hardly trusted her with any other life choices. But she knew they came from a place of love–she knew they were simply trying to protect what dipesh and gaaythri had built. What security they had in this country that, in some ways, was still so foreign. In their own way, they were also trying to protect her. But asha was growing restless, in her gilded cage–and there was only a matter of time before she knew she’d break free.

Happy 2024!
Alright. So, quick updates. Comps are this semester. My thesis needs to be deposited this semester. I find out whether I got into either of the PhD programs I applied to this semester.
Basically, everything is happening this semester. It's fine.
But I'm back at home, I'm back at the job I had two years ago, and I'm taking trains to and from DC for class. It's great -- I like trains, and when I focus I actually get a lot done on the train. It's built-in study time.
Also, I'm thrilled to say that my last UT Austin rec letter was finally sent in on Monday night. That two weeks felt more like an eternity.
Anyway. I have a heck of a to-do list this week.
Musical Diplomacy/Book History Seminar
1. Read an article. (By my advisor.)
2. Read an essay. (Also by my advisor!)
3. Look at a score PDF. (Yeah, I'm not printing that.)
Theory
4. Look over slides before class. (They got posted today, so I went ahead and looked over them.)
Thesis
5. Finish my lit review. (Technically, I sent it yesterday, but there was one really important body of literature I looked at that I haven't addressed in the lit review yet.)
6. Finalize my case studies. (I definitely know what four of them are going to be.)
Comps
7. Fill out the form and send it to my advisor. (I really needed to do this last week.)
8. Make a plan for studying. (Any tips would be SUPER useful.)
9. Order the textbook for one of my past courses through the Consortium. (So I can pick it up on Monday.)
Research Assistantship
10. Program notes. (Well, at least I got them in by the end of the business day.)
Doctoral Programs
11. Research four faculty at Indiana. (Your girl got invited to a virtual interview day in a couple weeks and found out who she gets to meet!)
Latin American Music Center
12. Figure out an article topic. (Somehow I've gotten myself roped into writing articles for the Latin American Music Center this semester.)
13. Send a headshot and bio so they can post a blurb about me. (Forgot about this until literally two hours before I needed to send it in.)
Adulting
14. Laundry. (My sheets and clothes are all nice and clean!)
15. Clean my bathroom. (All clean!)
16. Clean the kitchen stainless steel. (My family recognizes me as the queen of cleaning the stainless steel.)
17. Gym trip #1. (I have a Y membership now, which is cool! My first trip of the week is happening tonight.)
18. Gym trip #2. (I ended up doing a step class.)
19. Gym trip #3. (Ended up with a buddy!)
Now if I can just refrain from going down rabbit holes @q-berts-mind tells me about (*hint hint*) ... I should be fine.
#amy rambles#amy's to do list#diplomacy and book history seminar#(i'm sorry i legitimately have no idea what else to call that)#music theory#thesis#comps#research assistantship#doctoral programs#lamc#adulting#catholic university of america#cua#musicology#music major#your girl might have to add 'get some freaking sleep' to the adulting section#just kidding#maybe#i hope

Fave goth songs this year: 1. Crescent and the star - Sunshine Blind Gothic Rock
Honestly my favourite Sunshine Blind song objectively is probably burned at the stake now, but I'm a bit emotionally attached to this one. I spent a lot of time this year driving around alone and camping etc. to see cool landscapes and stuff + moving around between states so yeah. I really like the buzzing instrumentals and the way the singers vocals kind of match that in a way that's a bit hard to describe.
2. Telekinesis - Altar de fey Deathrock
I really like all the space imagery and stuff in this song, I read a lot of science fiction and this song just feels like a scifi short story thing. Also I really like the way the fast, discrete drumming contrasts with the guitar where all the notes blend into each other.
3. A fever dream - Mors Syphilitica Ethereal wave
This was my ethereal wave year tbh, I used to not listen to it much but it was probably my top genre this year. I love the really dramatic soaring instrumentals and vocals but the drums make it a lot more like, heavier and driving in contrast to a lot of ethereal wave I find a bit boring. Also the singer's vocals are so cool.
4. Silent Thunder - Mephisto Walz Deathrock
So according to spotify Mephisto Walz was my top artist, and though I also listened to a ton of stuff on youtube, bandcamp and mp3s that's probably right overall. I absolutely love Mephisto Walz's instrumentals and the kind of monotone sinister vocals go so well with them... they're probably my favourite of any bands I can think of.
5. Strange Weather - Dead Spells Deathrock? Their bandcamp and stuff says post punk and darkwave but the drumming and guitar sounds make me think deathrock tbh
Ok usually I like really dramatic instrumentals and stuff but I also really like the spooky more hollow sounding usually deathrock stuff but I think it's reallyyyy hard to do well without sounding boring but all this band's stuff is great. The lead singer's voice is great and I like the kind of tense tone of the lyrics. I could listen to this song on repeat for hours tbh.
6. The Future - Second Still Post Punk
Second Still is a really great band I'm so sad they broke up :(. They're also influenced by no wave so they've got some really interesting rhythms and stuff, it's more obvious in some of they're other songs on the album. The lyrics and stuff are also interesting it's very detached yet kind of upbeat which like so true...
7.Valentine - Sisters of Mercy Gothic Rock
The instrumentals and stuff make such a spooky ambience I love it. Also I think the anti war and militarism message is really relevant (Like yeah Andy's pretty obnoxious in a lot of ways but the anti militarism messages and critique of cold war unhinged nationalist mutually assured destruction stuff are so true. I keep seeing people going 'gothic rock has always been apolitical' and it's like mate. sisters of mercy is NOT subtle lmao what do you think the rain in first and last and always represents...) + the juxtaposition of really mundane imagery of everyday stuff and descriptions of like conflict really feel like this year tbh like I wake up in the morning and read the news and it's like wow. there's a lot of horrible stuff happening, a terrifying rise of far right groups and climate change and stuff. ok time to make breakfast and go running and study for my bio test I guess.
8. Dusk of Hallows Gothic rock? Post punk?
Corpus delicti has the best synth of goth bands imo. ok 100 years by the cure is extremely good too but the echoey soaring synth in corpus delicti is really good in way more songs it's so dramatic and the switching between the quieter synthy bits and the loud drumming and guitar works really well.
9. Remedios the Beauty - Strange Boutique Ethereal wave
I love the instrumentals in this, like I love screechy soary synth and guitars and stuff but this song kind of did the opposite with more clear instrumentals sounding a bit more like plucked strings I guess and it sounds really cool! Another of the songs that got me really into ethereal wave this year.
10. You bleed me - Suspiria Darkwave/Gothic rock
Over the last year Suspiria has become my go to 'it's 4 hours past time to go to sleep but I really need to finish this essay'. Very upbeat and also kind of fun in a silly vampire way. In a slightly different world where I was a more social person this would be the drag king music I would pick tbh.
#Bandcamp#Spotify#2023#goth music#and some of my favourite non goth songs this year were probably happy - mitski dead lines - skinny puppy and dilaudid - the mountain goats
